Insecure and fat so I thought of juicing...

When a woman gives birth to her third child and has been changing dress sizes from XS to XXL to S then XL and vice versa, the weight gain (and loss and gain) and wanting to lose weight again can be SUPER frustrating. Pardon my stereotyping, it's not that fat isn't beautiful (that's not the point here, my point is that), I have been TINY my whole life thus 133 lbs. and medium to large is a wardrobe nightmare for me! I stand 5 feet and 5 inches tall with a shoe size of 6 even 7 now (used to be 5 and a half) thus my current weight is horrific for my feet! I feel heavy, I have no decent clothes to wear (except my worn-out maternity clothes) because all my clothes are painfully size 4 and 6 and I am currently a 10 or a 12! I feel ugly and unhealthy... (chos!)

So, yet again, I searched for ways that I can expedite my weight loss while working my ass off in the gym. I came across adverts about juicing and stuff and since I am a goat reincarnate, it got me interested and very curious. I wanted to juice right away!!! (And starve myself til' I go down XXS) Unfortunately, the current juicers we have at home are centrifugal juicers, meaning, they kill the healthy enzymes from these fruits/veggies. So they say. We use our "cen-tri-fu-gal" juicer for juicing just oranges because when I tried juicing apples or grapes with it, t'was really a not-so-hot mess. Imagine using said juicer to juice malunggay leaves, right?! I wanted to get that Php14K Hurom juicer for the lifestyle I want to adapt... (next payday of course hahaha). The thing is, what if I don't really like juicing? I'll be left with another juicer of no use, right?!

Fortunately, a friend has been really crazy about juicing and even made a business out of it. Enter GREEN AGENDA BY NING DUREZA-UY.

I just wanted to see if I can live with juicing, right? So, I opted to try Green Agenda's One-Day Detox only, which is actually a three-day cleanse. I wasn't able to do the pre-cleanse and post- cleanse as I still babysit my three-month old baby thus can't help but eat solids from time to time. (That's my excuse, what's yours? LOL)

The "Welcome" Scroll

The 1 day cleanse contains instructions for your pre-day, on the day and post-day cleanse; 6 different kinds of juices as meal and snack substitutes plus fresh mint and lemongrass for tea time.

Anywaysssss, so the juices... It was kinda' weird drinking apple juice mixed with celery juice (because whenever I think of celery I think of meat balls, crab patties or celery sticks dipped in sour cream) but, surprisingly, the experience turned out tolerable. Heck, I would even dare say it was OK.

My favorite was the orange one (juiced carrots, pears & lemon). I had difficulty draining the green ones because they were really fibrous and I kinda' choke on drinks with "meat" in it. Blame it on my Lola who forced me and my cousins to drink piping hot eggnogs when we were still kids, even if it wasn't Christmas! Raw eggs cooking in hot milk + me drinking it = GAGGING.

So there...

Anyway, after being pregnant for 9 months and having just given birth 3 months ago (yes, yes, excuses... hehehe), my tummy is so used to eating heaps that surviving on just juices alone is just not possible - for now. Unfortunately, I got a little bit queasy and light-headed around 11 AM. Maybe because I shouldn't have drank that cup of coffee as instructed. But what am I to do? I was so sleep-deprived the night before that running errands the day of my detox was just impossible without caffeine pumping in my system. And then, I saw some yummy brazo de mercedes cupcakes lying on Jaime's Restaurant dessert station! I was weak, I got tempted, I ate 4 pieces when I wasn't even hungry! The juices were really filling, mind you.

Anyhow, I wouldn't say I failed epic-ly in my attempt to "detox". My goal really was to first see if I can live with juicing before I commit to it. I planned to go thru with the whole "just juices for today" thing and I was able to resist not eating for the first 4 hours but when you live a very busy and stressful daily life as me, maybe the "just juices for today" thing is a bit unrealistic. Drinking juices before each meal though helps with cutting down the amount of food intake. And I must say, the juices are the best meal substitutes I have come across, so far. I did realize that living on juices alone is something I can do - in the near future. Therefore, for now, a better and more achievable diet plan FOR ME is this: a big serving of breakkie, a bottle of juice then small amount of food for luncheon and then just juice for din-din.

If you're curious, GO TRY IT. I highly recommend.

Hugs, Dee
